Trainer Spotlight
Chrissy Lamoureux
Studio Maternity & Newborn · Moose Creek, Ontario
Nine years behind the lens, with a signature for moody, elevated maternity portraits made in her commercial studio in Eastern Ontario. A self-described introvert with a quiet sass that comes out the moment a session begins.
“What if I fall? Oh my darling, what if you fly?”
A Story Behind the Lens
“You never know how strong you can be until you need to be.”
— Chrissy, on a mama who came to her session in labor
Selected Work
The art of elevated maternity
Chrissy’s signature pulls dramatic light and moody tones into the studio, where she has spent nearly a decade refining how a maternity portrait can feel.
In Her Words
A few questions
The #1 thing you wish every newborn or maternity photographer knew?
Lighting is everything.
What makes your work feel uniquely yours?
My studio environment, my style, my sass, and the attitude I bring to every session.
One piece of gear you couldn’t live without?
My 24–70 lens and my camera body.
A person who shaped your business?
My husband first — he has listened to every cry of wanting to give up. Jason Lanier reignited my creative spark. A dear friend taught me how to actually use my gear. And Ana, whose belief carried me here.
A Favorite Session
A mama contacted me at the eleventh hour of her pregnancy — she had finally decided to book her session before it was too late. The morning of the shoot, baby had other ideas. She came in anyway. In labor. Leaking amniotic fluid. And we made the photographs. What I want people to take from that is what she taught me that day: you never know how strong you can be until you need to be.
